Point was created in Belgium by poet Germain Droogenboodt in 1984 with the idea
of realising "a human, international conversation, between all people by
means of translating and publishing poetry and to promote international
poetry internationally". Most POINT publications are anthologies, focusing
the poetry from one country. This consists of an introduction into the poetry
evolution of the selected country, a short bio-bibliography and 3-4 poems
per poet, generally in the original language and in Dutch translation.
Moreover the cover is always a reproduction in full colour of a work of art by a
famous painter of the same country . Some editions have more illustrations
inside the books.

World famous poets have been published by POINT. A selection: Margaret
Atwood (Canada), Bei Dao, Duo Duo (China), Sarah Kirsch, Peter Huchel,
Reiner Kunze (Germany), Jan Skácel (Czech Republic), YU Kwang-chung
(Taiwan), Miguel Hernández, José Ángel Valente (Spain), César Vallejo
(Peru), Nazim Hikmet (Turkey) but also poets of the same high level from
less known countries as Iceland, Korea, Morocco, Bosnia, Bulgaria etc.
So far, POINT published more than 50 books of poetry. We plan to set up
publications in English in INTERNET which will also be available as books
in the same and careful edited publications as the current POINT collection.
The anthology "The Winged Word" (Het Gevleugelde Woord), has been published
to mark POINT's 10th anniversary and contains the best poems,
selected from all the collections of modern international poetry. The poems
are translated in Dutch, but have poems in the original language by the
the poets featured in our stocklist.

more peaceful, a more human world
