behind the scenes of a large theater
a cold universe
froze the animators
with the indifference of a god

in the endless night
infertile chaos dominates
the last feelings
that hang from a puppet’s strings
like fragile fringes of ice

through the fingers of gnarled hands
the dreamy eyes
see hope.
