A pine tree stands lonely

Heinrich Heine · 1797-1856

A pine tree stands lonely
in the north on a bare hill.
He dozes, covered with a white blanket
of ice and snow.

He dreams of a palm tree,
which far away in the East,
lonely and silent mourns
on a burning cliff.

Heinrich Heine (1797-1856)
