My mother

My mother with the open arms
greeting me when I visited her
my mother with the tender words
when I phoned her that I couldn’t come
my mother with her face turned aside
as she still wanted to speak, but no longer could
my mother with the closed eyes
when I came too late to embrace her the last time.
