A Song, Hatto Fischer

Hatto Fischer · Duitsland

What shall I say to the birds
picking away at my thoughts
wishing to gain wings
to fly like democracy
past temples and castles
over rivers and human streams
till they land at my own feet
as if to wish that I will not go away.

Hatto Fischer, Germany (1945)
